“I picked up Vol. 1-2 at a Comic Con I attended and was pleasantly surprised by how easily this story hooked me. There's mystery, jokes, and funny characters surrounding a more serious protag which always makes for a good laugh. “I am simply blown away by the art in this little, grand manga. Every single panel displays an enormous amount of detail that makes the reader think, "how long did this guy work on this?" Fortunately, that answer is accessible through googling and it definitely checks out. There is one panel where Ollie is looking over the main city and it is poster-worthy! It's almost worth it to buy this comic book just to see that one "shot".

I've read a lot of comic books and while I understand the time constraints some published artists have, nothing holds a candle to the intricacy of Ollie Max's artwork. In something like The Long Halloween you get incredible covers, detailed panels of the "important stuff", but often times the story beats -- while still impressive -- show that the real work went into the "big moments" of the comic. Ollie Max does not share the same mantra - there are no panels that simply exist to push the narrative forward while sacrificing the standard of care the artist places in other panels. Rather, every frame is a masterpiece.

Speaking of the narrative, it is equally as impressive as the artwork. I finished reading this in one sitting because I was so gripped and intrigued. My one complaint is that I have to wait for the next installment to learn what happens. In some ways, I wish I had heard about this comic book in 2033 so I could binge-read the entire series. But alas, I am aware of it now so I must patiently wait for the subsequent installments.
